Samozapaljenje ugljena na otvorenom skladištu trgovačkog poduzeća poslužilo je kao model izučavanja nastale pojave. Ugljen slične kakvoće deponiran je na istom skladištu, ali različito po odjeljcima. Došlo je do samozapaljenja, ali ne svugdje, čemu su uzroci u uvjetima skladištenja, tj. veličini skladišnog prostora, količini uskladištenog ugljena i posebice nemogućnosti izvjetravanja nakupine tijekom vremena skladištenja. Rezultati su potvrdili ranije spoznaje, ali utvrdili i nova saznanja koja su predočena u članku.

Selfignition of coal in an open store-house of the trade firm has served as a model for researching the developed occurrences. The coal of similar quality has heen stored in a different way by partitions. Selfignition appeared, but not in all the partitions, as the result of different conditions in storing, i.e. greatness of the store-space, quantity of the stored coal, and in particular, because of impossibility of airing the coal heap during the time of storing. The results confirmed previous notions giving, at the same time, new insight in this problem which is presented in this article.
